Positive Growth in Vietnam’s Wood Export to the U.S.
According to the General Department of Customs, the wood export value of Vietnam to the U.S. in May 2024 reached $676.7 million. This reflects a 7.6% increase compared to May 2023. Over the first five months of 2024, total export value reached $3.3 billion. This is a 26% increase from the previous year. This positive trend highlights the growing demand for wood products in the U.S. The U.S. remains a key market for Vietnam’s wood industry.
Wooden Furniture Leads Vietnam’s Wood Export
Wooden furniture has emerged as the primary driver of Vietnam’s wood products to the U.S., contributing significantly to the industry’s overall growth. In the first four months of 2024, the export value of wooden furniture to the U.S. reached $2.3 billion, a 29.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The consistent demand for high-quality wooden furniture in the U.S. continues to boost Wood Exporting figures.
Diverse Product Categories Fuel Growth
In addition to wooden furniture, other product categories have also seen impressive growth. The export of wood, boards, and flooring to the U.S. reached $216.2 million, marking a remarkable 94.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Handicraft wood products followed with $6.1 million in exports, up by 134.5%. However, the export of mirror frames experienced a decline, with a 35.5% drop to $501,000.
